Glen Grant Distillery is known for producing elegant, light, and fruity single malts.
Founded: 1840Glen Grant Distillery, established in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, sits in the whisky town of Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, Scotland’s most prolific whisky-producing region. Known for its light-bodied, fruity, and floral single malts, Glen Grant has become a global benchmark for elegance in Scotch whisky.
What truly set Glen Grant apart in its early years was Major James Grant, who inherited the distillery in 1872. A world traveler and innovator, he brought electricity to the distillery, introduced tall, slender copper stills, and designed a special purifier that re-distills heavier vapors. This helped create Glen Grant’s hallmark style: clean, fresh, and incredibly smooth. The Major also created the distillery’s famous Victorian gardens, which remain a highlight of the visitor experience to this day.
