Ardbeg has been praised as “as close to perfection as makes no difference” by whisky experts, solidifying its reputation as one of the finest whiskies in the world. Revered globally, Ardbeg has earned numerous accolades, with six different expressions winning prestigious awards such as World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year, and World’s Best Single Malt.
Located on the small, remote Scottish island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-lah’), Ardbeg’s home is steeped in history. This wild and untamed land once sheltered Celtic monks from Viking raiders, while early distillers smuggled their illicit “aquavitae” through the rocky cove where Ardbeg now stands.
The island’s abundant soft water, fertile soil, and acres of precious peat make it a pilgrimage site for single malt whisky enthusiasts, with Ardbeg at its heart, widely regarded as the greatest distillery in the world.
For more than 200 years, Ardbeg has been crafted on Islay. Some reach the distillery by traveling the winding road from Port Ellen, while others are guided by their senses, destiny, or the recommendation of a good friend.
